Using his verified Instagram account, the football legend mentioned that he decided to come out with the news in order to bring to an end, rumours that have gone rife on various news portals.

He wrote, “I don’t normally discuss my private life, but due to false media speculation today I will confirm that sadly Lalla and I made the difficult decision to separate last year. We remain very close and our main focus has been our children and protecting them and the family’s privacy.”
