The acting Managing director of Nigeria’s Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Professor Kemebradikumo Pondei, collapsed during an investigative hearing at the National Assembly.
Pondei was cross-questioned by members of the House Committee on the NDDC over allegations of financial corruption to the tune of N40 billion (approximately GhC 632m, $110m).
The professor was also questioned over N536 million paid to a group associate in the Niger Delta region.
Overwhelmed by the questions he was bombarded with, the acting MD passed out.
Fortunately, members of the House swiftly attended to him and he was quickly rushed to the hospital while the hearing went on a recess.
Pondei is one of the top officials of the NDDC roped in the alleged N40 billions fraud.
On Thursday, 16th July, 2020 Professor and his team walked out on the House of Representatives Committee on NDDC, claiming that his team were not prepared to make any presentation before the committee.
