A uniformed police and a some military officers of the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Armed Forces respectively were turned into lame duck as a man believed to be an NPP activist and attache at National Security threatened to gun them down.
This action was captured in a video that has since gone viral on various social media platform across the country with many social commentators like A Plus condemning the act as well as raising concerns about the fragile nature of the country’s security arrangement at this critical time, ahead of the December 7 General Elections.
This unfortunate event is believed to have taken place at one of the registration centres at Asawase in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. At the time of filing this report, no apparent reason was readily available to explain why the armed man went berserk to the extent of openly displaying his arm and threatening to cause harm.
This action by this yet-to-identified man happens to be one of many acts of violence that have visited some selected registration centres in the ongoing Voters Registration exercise in the country.
Last week, Special Initiative Minister and Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Hon. Hawa Koomson, opened fire at unarmed citizens and burnt motorbikes at a registration centre in Kasoa. Thankfully, no one lost his/her life in the process.
