In the maiden edition of the NDC’s Weekly Press Briefing, Mr. Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, the, minority Chief Whip, alleged that the president has received the most resources as a leader and has done very little to show.
Mr. Muntaka, the MP for Asawase said that, all that the President can boast of so far are a few warehouses, toilets, markets, mechanized water systems, ambulances and sub-standard dugouts.
He continued that, the one million dollar one constituency every year that the President promised has been a “monumental failure”. According to Mr. Muntaka, each constituency should have received a total of $3million, which should sum up to a total of $825million for all 275 constituencies, (excluding 2020) or benefit from developmental projects equivalent to that amount.

Mr. Muntaka said, per what was submitted to Parliament by the Ministry of Special Development Initiatives in the 2020 budget, the total cost of Capital expenditure projects (from 2017-2019) undertaken so far under the $1m 1constituency promise is GHc462,979,103, which is equivalent to just $81m
He indicated that the $81m represents just 9.8% of the total $825m that government promised.
“The project cost has not only been inflated but also MPs have been sidelined in the choice and execution of development projects in their respective constituencies” he further noted.
