A taxi driver is feared dead after a tree a tree fell on him during a heavy rain storm at Mmrom in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional Capital.
The taxi driver who was only identified as Alhaji is reported to have parked his taxi under a tree and waiting to get passengers in front of Asanteman Senior High School.
This is something most drivers do; wait at vantage points to get some passengers, but things went wrong for Alhaji.
Two of his colleagues who were also there managed to escape, but Alhaji who was sitting on the boot of his Opel Astra taxi with registration number AW 7248-14 couldn’t do same.
According to reports reaching ghanarocks.com, the truck of the neam tree, which was blown by the storm, fell on him. This incident occurred around 5pm on Thursday, June 18.

The fire service as well as the ambulance Service was at the scene, but their presence did little to save the situation. It took the intervention of some chainsaw operators who cut through the trunk of the tree and branches to see the motionless body of the deceased.
The body of the deceased is reported to have been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Morgue for preservation.
The accident caused a heavy traffic locking the main Suame Roundabout to Kejetia stretch.
