Google’s doodle for 10th October 2020 is dedicated to Ghanaian philosopher Anton Wilhelm Amo or Anthony William Amo who was born in 1703.

According to a detailed piece from Google, Amo was Ghanaian-German philosopher, writer, and academic, widely credited as one of Europe’s first African-born university students and professors as well as one of the 18th century’s most notable Black philosophers.

The piece further revealed that on this day in 1730, Amo received the equivalent of a doctorate in philosophy from Germany’s University of Wittenberg.
