Between June and August 2020, the country’s Electoral Commission (EC) organised a Voter’s registration exercise with the sole aim of presenting a very credible register for the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections On 7 Dec, 2020.

The commission claimed, without proven evidence, that the then Voters’ Register was bloated, contained foreigners and minors and so it was important compile a new register rather than clean up the old register while carrying out a limited registration exercise.

However true those allegations were, one would have thought that the new Voters’ Registers would not be fraught with any controversies as the Jean Mensa led EC would have carried out an excellent job by crossing the Ts and dotting the Is over concerns from the old register.

With this new video hitting online, where some officials at the EC office are seen to be putting together ID cards of registrants at odd hours, the question then is, how credible is the June 2020 Voters’ Register for the December polls?
